Every night after work, except for Wednesday I pedaled till dark. The total number of miles for the week was 208 bringing my total to date to 2,255 Miles.
This past Saturday was the first time that Britta has biked with me since Ragbrai and guess what. Even though she has a new bike did not guarantee no flat tires.
We were headed to the San Gabriel bike trail going through the Rose Bowl and her back tire went flat. Our O2 cartridge did not work and the leak in the tire was bad enough that I biked home and came back to pick up Britta and her bike.
We went back to my house to fix the flat only to discover that they had sold her the wrong size replacement tube when she got her bike. I rode on without her and Britta waited till 10:00 when the bike shop opened to go and buy a new tube. We knew our ride on Sunday would be better.
Back to some Ragbrai photos. These wonderful ladies had their own band. They all had false teeth and note the lady on the right is using a chicken's foot to strum the washboard. They were hilarious and I would guess in their 50's, just dressed to look older.
A new style of lawnmower. I could mow lawns and get miles!
Out on the town one night after biking.
The towns do a great job of decorating using bikes in many different ways.
A very creative dunk tank. Check out the toilet at the top.
Another night out on the town. Carroll's theme was "Casino Night"
Atlantic, Iowa is considered the Coke Capital of Iowa as they have a coke bottling plant. All the coke was free at their stop along the road.
The cloud has now grown legs and is truly following Britta and her bike.
We did make it to the San Gabriel bike trail and the flat occurred on our way home over the 605 Freeway. However, this time we had a tube that fit and a working O2 cartridge. When we heard the tire "POP" all we could do was laugh. We had no flats on Ragbrai.Back to some Ragbrai photos. These wonderful ladies had their own band.
